Block printed lampshades

Print your own design then turn it into your very own bespoke lampshade.

Start the workshop with a coffee or tea whilst you explore a wide range of beautiful hand carved Indian blocks and see examples of printed pieces.

After a demonstration, with plenty of tips and tricks shared, you get to practice before finalising your choice of blocks and colours.

Under the expert guidance of Von from Von’s Craftery, you will print your own design onto a length of fabric which, when dry, can be heat-set by iron in readiness for the next stage.

Once your master-piece is finished you will be guided through the process of turning it into a 15cm diameter lampshade, ready to take home with you to compliment your interior.

Embossed pewter keepsake box

Embossed pewter with Melanie — Keepsake box

Design a beautiful keepsake box and embellish it in pewter. On this full day workshop, you will be guided through the process from the piece of sheet pewter to the final polished work.

The box will then be painted and lined with fabric and a jewelled clasp added.

Make a wet felted bowl

Work with Textile Artist Penny Dixon to make a fabulous felt bowl from pure wool fibres.

This could also become a plant pot holder if you wish. You will learn how to lay soft merino fibres around a flat resist. Using soap and water you will agitate the fibres and with guidance will find out the correct time to remove the resist and continue working your 3-D bowl.

Keep bits and pieces in it or use it to keep your plants cosy!

You will be able to add stitching at home when your pot is dry or just admire it as it is!

Create your own bespoke cushion with our resident block print expert Von, from Von’s Craftery

Start the session with a coffee or tea and explore the wide range of stunning hand carved Indian blocks and beautiful paint colours on offer whilst mooching through examples of printed pieces.

After a demonstration from Von, with plenty of tips and tricks, you’ll be ready to practice your design before finalising your choice of blocks and colours.

Once your master-piece is finished and dry, it can be heat-set by iron to make it colour-fast and washable, and ready to take home and use.

Embossed pewter with Melanie — Letter and bookmark

This workshop is for absolute beginners. It will give insight into the process of hand embossing on metal with simple hand held tools.

Melanie will take you through the process of low and high relief embossing on sheet pewter, which will then be aged and polished.

You will then have a beautiful box-framed pewter initial to take away with you. You will also make a bookmark in pewter and embellish it with alcohol inks.

Collage and dried seed head wreath making day

Celebrate the season with a full-day creative workshop led by Libby, founder of Dolphin House and trained florist, and Penny, a former textile designer and expert in realistic collage

Penny will guide you through the techniques required to create a detailed collage of a poppy seed head and dried eucalyptus foliage — adding depth and texture by applying torn paper with water based glue.

Libby will help you translate those same botanical elements into a beautiful, everlasting dried flower wreath — using a natural willow base and traditional floristry wire techniques. You’ll work with poppy seed heads, dried eucalyptus, and other seasonal dried materials to create a truly unique piece of autumnal art.

Three different techniques will be used to make these hanging ornaments. You will learn to emboss in low and high relief on pewter and copper and learn how to layer in metal tape. The decorations will be coloured with different waxes and inks and embellished with ribbon and beads.

Join us for a colourful, hands-on workshop where you’ll design and decorate two glass panels to be fitted into a tall, 29cm galvanised steel lantern — perfect for cosy autumn nights with a candle or fairy lights.

Think warm autumn tones, bold colour pops, or your own unique palette — it’s totally up to you.

Cloudscape reduction print workshop with Steve Manning

Learn the art of reduction lino printing with established Devon printmaker Steve Manning.

Steve Manning is a renowned printmaker known for his atmospheric landscapes and expert use of tone and light. His work is exhibited widely, including at the Royal West of England Academy and RAMM Exeter.

Across two creative and immersive days, you’ll create striking cloudscape prints full of depth and atmosphere — first using a pre-designed template, then developing your own design from scratch.

Day 1: Learn the fundamentals using a step-by-step template and basic colour palette.

Day 2: Apply your new skills to design and print your own A5 cloudscape.

Techniques include: lino cutting, inking, layering colours, registration & hand burnishing
